I really wanted a fucking sandwich and everyone bought all the bread like hoarder assholes.
How much bread do these people eat in a week? Would a typical grocery store trips worth of bread not be enough to cover a hypothetical week of no power? Won’t all the extra bread go bad anyway? Aren’t you…
To be fair, they are thinking that they will be eating nothing but cold sadwiches* because they don’t know any other raw food to eat. Come to the mid west. I don’t see this shit like you have out east. Out east: a half inch of snow predicted they empty the bread aisle, a apparently on the first snow flake everyone just lets go of the steering wheel because they crash into everything.
Chicagoland and rest of the midwest: Terrible storm predicted, we make plans to leave the house early so we can still be on time. We already have the groceries we need so we put off going to the store in such weather.
* I meant sandwiches, but typoed and it seemed more appropriate.

But don’t cold sandwiches generally rely on refrigeration and such which would be rendered moot in a crisis situation
