Ok. One more person educated about this. I am not against sex workers. I think that should be a legal occupation and want it to be safe. I know there is a demand and I want those who would choose to be a sex worker to be afforded the same kinds of protections that I as an IT worker get.
Now, what is the correct term for those coerced into sex work? I know that many underage people and others have been coerced in to sex work. It is not their choice and they are not free to leave it. Making sex work illegal does not protect underage people from it, and in fact makes leaving more difficult; there are girls too young to consent to have sex in custody for “prostitution” serving as living examples to those who would leave that leaving may well not bring them freedom.
