Sounds like you have a budding mechanical engineer there. I don’t want to tell you how to parent but maybe you can encourage him to do this in a constructive way. Legos or Kinects maybe depending on his age.
In his room, there are enough tinker toys and legos and other assemble your own toys to wade through. He and his sister are often building things. It is not enough.
